This Sunday's guest post comes from a dear brother, David Kitz, who writes beautiful devotions on the Psalms

Just yesterday I had to prune my pear tree which had grown straggly, reshaping it and removing the dead wood. Today I pray that Father God will prune me, shape me and remove dead wood, that I may bloom for Him bearing good fruit in His name.

Saturday morning and there is still Hope in Jesus Christ! A Hope that does not fade with the passing of time! If you do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ, come unto Him today! Jesus is continually calling you, come as you are today!

This is one of the most sobering lines in all of scripture:

“The axe is already taking aim at the root of the tree. Every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is to be cut down and thrown into the fire.”
Matthew 3:10

Are we bearing good fruit? We don’t have forever. It’s best we tend to those roots.

But I am like a flourishing olive tree in the house of God; I trust in God's faithful love forever and ever.
—Psalm 52:8

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5
