As I have been taught, it is a mercy to souls if we can prosecute their crimes and have them carry out their punishment in this life. It gives them a window to repent and ask for God's mercy. It also acts as a deterrent to others.
Also, seeing justce done alleviates some of the suffering of their victims.
So we should pray for justice to be done.
