Because it wasn't the literal teachings of Jesus. Thomas is a Gnostic teaching without any evidence the book was written by any certain person, in any certain time. It, like the rest of the Gnostic teachings, are designed to lead one away from Christ, as the Christ, rather than to him.
@ChvckN0rri5 @Ann_Mandeville this is logically impossible. If there is no way to God that is wrong then even a way that says it was the only way to God would be right and yet wrong at the same time. Most religions teach your relationship with God is dependent on what you do. Authentic Christianity teaches your relationship to God is dependent on what Christ did. Christ quite clearly in the scriptures claims exclusivity, being the only way to God. God claims to be unique in nature, God of gods and Lord of lords. Gnosticism is older than Christianity because it predates Christ, but it certainly isn’t authentic nor does it give an authentic way to know God. Certainly, there are some things that are true taught by other religions, but the Truth is unique to one.
Stating there is no wrong path to God, does not mean that we chose a single path
