34. Biblical People in Inscriptions

Omri (1 Kings 16:16, etc). A king of Israel (884-873 BC). The Mesha stele, lines 4-5, reads: *mry.mlk.ysr'l. “Omri was king of Israel.” An inscription of Tiglath-pileser III (below) reads: KUR.E-hu-um-ri-a "the land of Omri."
