Nergal-sar-ezer the Samgar (Jeremiah 39:3). Nebuchadnezzar II’s Prism, column 3 of prism ES 7834, reads: Nergal-sharru-usur. Samgar reflects Akkadian simmagir, which is a title for a high official. The writer of Jeremiah must have lived then.
