Troas was a city and region in NW Asia Minor, designated by Augustus as “Colonia Augusta Troadensium.” Luke (Acts 16:8, etc.) and Paul (2 Corinthians 2:12; 2 Timothy 4:13) use the name Troados, the proper form of the name Troas as current in the first century.
