There is a difference between affirming the choices of others and accepting others irregardless of those choices.
The Law of God was to protect his people in relationships. Those rules helped His people to come out of the world and be one with Him. Jesus had a high regard for the “rules” of the OT.
In his words: Matthew 5:17 (NIV): “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”
