Latte art by my husband. He bought an espresso machine almost a year ago, and has ever since practiced brewing and latte art. The machine is very manual and he has learnt about coffee beans (you grind them every time you make a new cup of coffee), optimal temperatures, milk etc. He's a great barista! I have even learnt to drink coffee (latte) as 40+ thanks to this tasty coffee.

The shadow is me - around noon today. 😀 The sun is never even close to zenith in Finland. We always have long shadows, but the longest around winter solstice.

Sunset at 3 PM. Such a beautiful day - again! Epiphany is a holiday in Finland (is it in your country?), so we have had a day off from work and enjoyed nature.

Me and my family in hand-knitted jumpers. My mother-in-law has knitted them, so she wanted us to take a picture.

Matthew 22:36-40
New International Version

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

A quiz for you AMERICANS and other interested! Try to list the 5 biggest American states of these 10 by area (the biggest first... Kalifornien is California) - by heart, without checking it up from Google or any other source! It's from a funny Swedish game. Reply below and I'll give you the right answer. (I knew the two biggest, but the rest were too difficult for me).

Wishing all Dingdashers a Happy New Year! 🍾❄🎊🎆 We live in uncertain times in many ways, and don't know what the future holds - but we know who holds the future. Some of you live under more pressure than others. I pray for peace in your hearts! It's easier said than done, and I am learning myself to trust the Lord when it comes to things I worry about.

Most of us have felt more isolated the last almost two years. I worked from home during 1,5 years, except from the fall of 2021 (and will continue in Jan). I haven't traveled outside of Finland and Sweden for 2 years. We haven't attended big events. It's strange and frustrating. I've learnt to love nature even more. I took this picture yesterday close to home, and this untouched snow and vast forest almost made me cry. We have enjoyed this beautiful white winter ever since around Nov 20th. This dark time of the year (light for appr. 4 hours) can be depressing if it's raining, as some winters.

There is a spring with drinkable water in a nearby forest. My son wanted to go there today, but I thought it would be frozen after several weeks of winter weather. To our surprise it was flowing. It tastes so good!

My parents-in-law's old Cabby caravan from the 60's covered in snow.

It's a little funny. We got four chickens in spring 2016. Two of them are still alive and kicking, but they lay eggs very sparingly at this age. We don't have them to save money, but because they are our son's pets, and he loves them and doesn'twantustoget rid of them. 😀 They live in an old barn at my parents-in-law, a couple of hundred meters from our house. Today we found two eggs. It was -18°C outdoors, and -5°C in the barn. They have a heat lamp. Otherwise they would lay no eggs at all in the winter.
