Also consider that the troops are being told they will be deployed to DC through mid-February. So this obviously has little to do with inauguration. Because the DAY after inauguration, the protesters go home. Yet the troops will be there for many WEEKS (so far) and probably longer.

The DC area is being turned into a defensive war zone, clearly in preparation for a major attack by a nation state, not by knucklehead protesters. The amount of firepower being concentrated there, along with F-16 fighter air wing support, and 50+ Stryker combat vehicles, is intense. Chris Miller clearly believes a nation state-level attack on DC is imminent.
