“Many today struggle with the problem of identity. We are born as sons or daughters. We may be brothers or sisters, fathers or mothers. We may find identity in what we do, what we have accomplished, or the legacy we are passing on.

Yet, we are drawn to more than this. As children, we imagine ourselves as kings or warriors, princesses, heroes, or even superheroes. In some ways, we may not stop wanting to believe that we were made for such greatness.

And so, in fact, we were!

The truth of the Word of God says that we were made as the royalty of God, just a little lower than Himself. We are warriors made to share in God’s victory, and we were made for greatness. It’s not as we have imagined it, but as God has created it in His goodness…

This book is a family picture in some sense, showing the beautiful traits of some of the family members, some of whom may be more like you (and me) and some less. The book consists of 33 readings about different characteristics of identity in Christ”

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” …O Lord, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you shall be put to shame; those who turn away from you shall be written in the earth, for they have forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living water. Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for you are my praise.”

“Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord. He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.””

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
This promise is for those who love God in covenant relationship on His terms (John 15:1-14). For those who love God, all things work together for good, just as God’s purpose in Christ has been to do good (Acts 10:38, Ephesians 2:10). This pertains to us aligning ourselves with God’s purposes, ideas, concepts, plans, goals, agenda, dreams, mission, kingdom and will— not our own.

I’m on day 30 out of 60 in writing on Paul and it’s on Romans 8. It’s truly awesome!

Happy Easter! My post today on identity in Christ at www.jason.church is about the power of God

As I reflect on Pauls' writings, this is also amazing stuff from the Spirit of God: “But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God’s word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.” - 2 Cor. 2:14-17
Who is sufficient for these things?

In Christ, due to His finished work that we celebrate, all of God’s promises are yes and amen, so be it. Glory to God. (2 Cor 1:19-22)

Today celebrating Christ’s finished work that accomplished so much!
“We came to realize that the thing we prayed for most, would never be answered by God:
1) Asking Him to do what He already accomplished by Christ’s sacrifice
2) Asking Him to do what He already commissioned us to do”
