The robber on the cross surely was unable to be immersed in the name of Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit since he was still in the Old Testament. Therefore I don't bother with that case. I live in a new contract under the law of Christ. In Ephesians 2 you read that it is out of grace that we are saved. And not through a work of the Old Covenant. But it does not mean we can be lazy. The Holy Spirit rebukes you through James that faith without works is dead.
@erdenpilger You can read what the Ephesians did when they believed and after which work they received the Holy Spirit (Acts 18+19). Last but not least, 1.Peter 3,21 clearly tells you that immersion under water saves us by asking for a good conscience.
@erdenpilger You will not find any Scripture that tells you that "faith ALONE" saves you. Luther messed up his translation by adding words. Not a good starting point from where he will stand in front of God: "Every word of God is [a]pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar" (Proverbs 30:5-6). (See also Deuteronomy 4:2; Revelations 22:18-19). So also please don't add to the Word of God.
