@lynnexxa Yeah well, that works great when you have the MEANS to pay off your house and all your credit cards. Unfortunately, for some (maybe most) of us "working-class schmucks" that's not the kind of reality we're living in.
@lynnexxa Yeah, we had a nice plan like that too, except ours got shot down in 2017 when the company my husband had worked for 25 years "restructured" and got rid of all the "old folks". He had started there right after he got out of the Military in their warehouse for $5/hour and worked himself up all the way to Regional Manager. Then they didn't need him anymore because it's much cheaper to pay some kid out of college instead of a 25-year employee. Starting over at age 50 sucks!
