True!
That is a concern I have for the churches in America now. Many really don't want the real, whole truth about sin and the deceptions around us. Many believe in just being "gentle" and "nice" to people as truth takes a back seat. What good is it to mention repentance when the churches are not truly obeying their commission.
It needs to be God's way not our version with compromise. If we're worried too much about what people think we will NOT be effective for Christ!

@Jf_dream I think that God calls us to look inwards and fix ourselves, to turn away from our old lives and live in this new life he has give us. In Jeremiah, it's written about "circumcising hearts"...I don't know exactly what this means (any insight?) but I see it as changing our hearts to follow God, turning away from evil...and of course this starts within ourselves.

Yes very true! Each believer needs to continue to "work out your salvation" and we are also responsible to exhort each other to stay true to God's way: Hebrews 3:
12 "Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but [b]exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin."
Personal sin and sin in the Church needs to be addressed!
