@leahj thanx for the articles. unfortunately for the author of those blogs, i didn't merely research the information by looking it up in books. I traveled to each location personally. I traveled to Topeka Kansas, looked at the records, went to the upper room where Agnes Ozman was supposed to have had her experience, interviewed experts, brought a team of Chinese with me, and documented the event of my study by film. I then traveled to LA where Pastor Seymour had his meetings at Azuza street.
@leahj Pastor Jing was the founder of the Jesus family and many of those charasmatic missionaries - whether you agree with them or not - had a HUGE impact in China during a time that was important in history. What the author failed to note is that June, July, August of 1900 - 5 months before Mrs. Ozman had her experience - China killed more missionaries than ever before in history. Through the charasmatic movement - China experienced the largest number of missionaries.
@leahj it doesn't bother me whether people believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit or not, BUT what bothers me is when bloggers rewrite history according to their own beliefs like is done in the blog. In 1901 when Pastor Parham had his vision - 90% of Christians lived in Europe and America - Today - 100 years later 60% of Christians live in Asia and Africa - and the majority of them are charasmatic. Those meetings in Topeka KS changed the world.
@leahj Pastor Jing of the Jesus Family had a vision to take the Gospel to the nations that fired up his charasmatic church. It was called the Back to Jerusalem vision. You see, I didn't believe or disbelieve what happened to Agnes Ozman or Pastor Parham because of what I read. I had to see it for myself. The blog that you sent me might call Pastor Parham a fraud - but the truth is - Pastor Parham's experience changed the Christian mission field forever. I'm a witness.
@leahj Many according to many diaries of conservative missionaries that I have read - many of them left their fellowship because speaking in tongues was not allowed. this led to thousands of Chinese coming to Christ.
