Former President Donald Trump hosted the LGBT Log Cabin Republicans’ “Spirit of Lincoln” gala at his Mar-a-Lago residence. Politico called the event “a joyous celebration of gay rights and — in a case of ironic timing — the historic same-sex marriage law signed by President Joe Biden days earlier.” Trump received a standing ovation after declaring, “We are fighting for the gay community, and we are fighting and fighting hard. With the help of many of the people here tonight in recent years, our movement has taken incredible strides…”

Speakers included Kari Lake, lesbian Fox News commentator Tammy Bruce, and former Trump Director of National Intelligence Ric Grennell, the first openly gay Cabinet member. Kari Lake shockingly said, “My friends when I worked in media for thirty years were the most amazing, fun, smart, savvy people in the world: gay men. I had no idea conservative politics is full of gay men as well.”.
