Remember:
As bad as 2020 has been/is being, 2021 could be a lot worse.

@StevenBerry
I really appreciate your posts :)
As christians grow up, we tend to hear a lot about the future, God's plan for us, the glorious future with Him in new Jerusalem, and so on.
Living in the moment is portrayed as a worldly phrase.
But is it really?
God doesn't care about our past, he has paid for all our mistakes. He also doesn't want us to get lost in fears and false hopes for the future. The only time that counts to Him is right now.
Is my heart with God in this very moment?!

@Matthias @StevenBerry

i guess the scriptural warning about not 'planning for tomorrow' is fitting here too

i love how scripture is always telling us to be present [but not influenced by it] ('in the world but not of it' etc)

so we're to 'not plan for tomorrow' - by making assumptions it WILL happen, but we are to make plans for our future - eg Salvation is definitely planning for the future

but that is planning for something concrete, tangible, quantifiable and certain 🙂

@Matthias Well said. It's a challenge, because it's so easy to get caught up in what might happen, or what has happened. But God wants us to live in the moment.

@StevenBerry
I take this as you can adjust to what is bad now, and when it is worse, so to speak, you will adjust to that too. Sad! That is the syndrome of the prewar German Jews that ultimately stuffed them into crematoria. Best reject that kind of fake and fatal optimism now before you end up another liquidated Pollyana. This is the same syndrome in black communities, I suspect, as a black Christian friend said to me regarding the chaos in Seattle, "It could be worse."

@Eben I get what you're saying, but I just meant that we shouldn't waste away our lives waiting for next year because we don't know what it will hold. But I do believe that there are things in life that one cannot change, those things we just have to "adjust to", accept, and embrace. Such as illness or losing a loved one, that can only be done with God.

@StevenBerry
Sorry for the sledgehammer, I am new to social media! I will not be so harsh as I proceed more circumspectly in the future, I hope. Eben
