Arrived in Florida yesterday to continue exploring the states with few regulations and somehow ended up in the only Communist hold out in Florida - KEY WEST. Key West has mask mandates and curfew. Yay FLORIDA. BOO KEY WEST. I will spend some time underwater diving with my boys and then make my escape back to freedom.
@sinbach sounds nice with diving! (Not so nice with mask mandates and curfew). Oh how I miss the sun, and I would like to visit Florida some time (haven't even visited the country yet). We are half way through the four dark months in Finland. But, life is not bad right now. We are skiing downhill and cross country 400 km north east from home (too little snow at home). Happy New year!
@tanjaostman we are in the warmer weather for the sake of my oldest son - who has been living in cold weather at university for the last 3 years and yearns for the sun. for me? i will be heading right back to the snow right after this. Happy New Year and enjoy the skiing!
@sinbach Thank you! So you are more of a snow and mountain guy? 😊 We should trade places... Maybe I am "marked" by my two years of my childhood in Thailand. I dream more and more of moving south... (Even if Finland is a great country in many ways) I love winter sporting, but hate the dark winters here and the bad (= rainy) winters, that have become more common in my country, especially along the coast where we live...
@sinbach ok! If you like high intensity training, then cool weather is better... Maybe I think that the grass is greener on the it here side... To be honest there are few places on the earth where you can move so easily (because of cool weather) and freely (right of public access, so much space, and nothing to fear) as in the Nordic countries. We have trails in the forest only a 5 min walk from home where we use to walk or run or mountain bike. And pick berries. So yes, I really get that you appreciate the cold!

@tanjaostman yes - everything that you said is why i LOVE being in northern sweden - and I could live out the rest of my days in the Lapland except for JUST one little tiny thing.....
....I don't have the right to carry a gun. one of the things I love about being in the remote mountains in the US is that I can carry my rifle(s) with me at all times...and for reasons I cannot ever explain to a Swede (or a Finn)....that makes me so very happy.
@sinbach I think I get it since you are American! 😀 The mindset of Scandinavians are somtimes the opposite of American... don't get into any argument with an extreme Swedish feminist. At least not about carrying a gun. Or anything else. 😂 😅
@tanjaostman at this stage in my life - i am definitely a cold weather, mountain/ocean/outdoors kind of guy. maybe i will like the warmer weather more when i am older.....maybe.....
