Because He Lives
The Faithfulness of our Father in our trials is the greatest motivation to being faithful ourselves. As I look back on my health trials I an see how He has rescued me often, which encourages me every day.
No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.
— 1 Corinthians 10:13
Negative thoughts can sometimes come in huge waves that threaten to swamp us, these have usually been health related for me. But in this I have never let go of the "Life Preserver" - the promises of God my Father in His Word.
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;
— Hebrews 10:23

Blessed (happy, to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor's] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him.

The Bible is like a manual. So just like any other manual there is only so much you can learn from simply reading it. You gotta live it out.

In your hands
Father,
I am in your hands:
Do with me as you will.
No matter what you send,
Dear Lord,
Help me to love you still.
In good and bad
Please let me cling
To you, Lord, every day,
Then I will thank you, Lord,
Rejoice,
And never cease to pray.
