Then looking up at his disciples, he said: Blessed are you who are poor, because the kingdom of God is yours. - Luke 6:20

Does He mean spiritual poor? From being weighed down by the Pharisees and Law or financially poor? I think about this verse a lot and still go back and forth with both. Either way, seeing Jesus say “the kingdom of God will be yours” is pretty awesome! ✝️

So, I’m reading through Luke this morning and don’t really understand why the people got so upset with Jesus after he reminded them about Elijah & Elisha in Luke 4:24-28 CSB

He also said, “Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in his hometown. But I say to you, there were certainly many widows in Israel in Elijah’s days, when the sky was shut up for three years and six months while a great famine came over all the land. Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them except a widow at Zarephath in Sidon. And in the prophet Elisha’s time, there were many in Israel who had leprosy, and yet not one of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.” When they heard this, everyone in the synagogue was enraged.

“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:1-2‬ ‭ESV‬‬
