I read this today and had to share. One day, William Booth was asked to explain the secret of his success.

"I will tell you the secret. God has had all there was of me. There have been men with greater brains than I. Men with greater opportunities. But from the day I got the poor of London on my heart and a vision of what Jesus Christ could do, I made up my mind that God could have all of William Booth there was.
The greatness of a man's power is the measure of his surrender."

@bethany I am currently listening to a sermon series of Zac Poonen on the "Higher Life".

He basically says the same. God needs to crush our own self. That alone makes it possible for the Holy Spirit to fill us and reign in us and work through us.

We can do a lot of religious activity in our own strength, but its worthless if its not a work God wrought within us.

I'm at the crushing part of the way right now. :)

@erdenpilger you and me both! I don't know if we ever truly get out of that crushing - it's something I have to go through daily. Praise God for His grace right?

@bethany that was my thought right after I pressed the "send" button. :)
