I am this old.
I saw my first movie here in Muncie Indiana at a drive through theater -
Conan the Barbarian.
I was in the first grade.

@sinbach Conan the Barbarian? That sounds.... aggressive

@bethany it was. as a kid, it was too strange for me. it left many graffic images in my head.

Follow

@bethany parents of a neighborhood friend took me.

@sinbach how responsible 😬 I'll go ahead and assume this is not a movie recommendation from you

@sinbach @bethany but I would recommend drive ins, they are so much fun... too bad they are all closing down

@Will @sinbach I'm not sure whether we have them here in the UK or not

@bethany @Will they made a come back in some places during covid.

@sinbach @Will this may be a dumb question, but do you stay in the car? Do you drive in and get out the car? How do you hear the movie?

@bethany @Will yes, you stay in car or can tail gate in back of truck. every car parking spot usually has speaker.

@sinbach @bethany @Will I wrote Netflix a few years ago about opening a pilot drive-in that could be franchised. I was going to provide the location and help work out the bugs. Never heard from them...could have been super successful during covid.

@bethany @sinbach Some people would have pickups set up with a sofa or chairs on the back. Some would pull in and stay in their car, others with vans or SUV would back in and open the back and sit in there, or have lawn chairs and sit beside the car. Ours didnt have speakers, so you would just tune your radio into their designated station to listen to the audio.

@sinbach @bethany Thats great, didn't think of that. We had one in PA before we moved, and it was a great place to take the kids. You could take your own food, and go early and throw freebies and football and just hang out with other families. A great affordable evening out!
