PS. Many years ago, I once met a martial-arts-person coming back to visit old friends on a high school here in Norway, from India or Bangladesh I think. Then, he was a city/national-level instructor, that was going to Asia to one of the monasteries to EARN his top-notch/"black" belt in his style/traditions by being beaten in a monastery in the middle of the night. At random. Fight his way out and subject to enormous hardship. Ritualistic randomness, systematic hardening, etc. A tough nut if there ever was one.

That reminds me of the scene portrayed with that "reincarnated boy Dalai Lama" there. If his role's "initiation" is through systematic child sexual abuse, then he must be a very poor soul and person indeed. Ruined, splintered, open to extreme demonic stuff. There is a darkness in such systems that is felt across books and continents.

It's simply God's grace and a "wonder of wonders" that Tenzin fared so well through it (&better teacher).
