@Berrybunchfamily this map explains our cultural differences when it comes to taking our shoes off in homes! πŸ˜€ I'm still not over the shock that you wear shoes in your own home - not only your guests. πŸ˜‚ I have traveled a little bit in Europe, but not visited private homes. That's the reason I haven't fully understood this before... It would be really weird to use outdoor shoes indoors in the Nordic countries. But a great deal of the year we wear winter boots, and our shoes get really snowy, wet or muddy.

@tanjaostman sorry for the delay. Notifications got turned off on my phone and only just found out

@tanjaostman we may well not be the norm for the UK. Some people can be almost rude about you arriving at their house, and the need to remove your sirs before you're allowed to come in

Cold feet is the one thing I've always been susceptible to, and I don't like others getting cold feet.- under floor heating is certainly no common in the UK

@Cherishingsparrows2020 makes some great points

Personal I'd prefer slippers over shoes in the houses, but they're so expensive.

Hardwood floors downstairs and carpets upstajrs is my preference (not that we get any say with renting houses)
