Question for everyone... After Apple banned Parler I've been reconsidering my studio setup, which has been Mac based for many years. Though I try to somewhat stay with a tech direction that seems to be the most honoring to the Lord it has basically become a "meat sacrificed to idols" scenario so my question really is more along the lines of freedom of the OS. As a software engineer I'm saavy on both systems, but have quite a bit of $$$ tied into the Apple framework and Applications I use. So my question is really, is there a better choice in light of the censorship and technical overreach we may see more of in the future? Thanks for your thoughts!
@wildgoose I use neither of the 2 big tech players, and have used various linux distros and FOSS software for years in light of MS' and Apple's business practices.
@ChiaChatter Curious... with Linux are their shell programs that can work well for Microsoft Office programs, etc.? ... or work as a shell for Windows based programs?
@wildgoose Keep looking... but I don't think so Yet, but many people of God are creating for the Kingdom. Love & Prayers
@wildgoose
I think we're all struggling with this. In my opinion the tech companies are all playing the same game; one is not more righteous than another. Might as well use the equipment you are invested in. I really appreciate the products they come up with but I am always aware I am on enemy territory and they are able to "revoke my privileges" at any time. We should always have some kind of Plan B in mind.
@lynnexxa I'm also wanting to create the "Plan B", lol :D. Perhaps Linux, FOSS, TOR, etc. I'm also desirous and hopeful of seeing a "Light Web" alternative crafted at some point. I suppose I'm looking for a "bug out" option for our family that will still allow us to utilize the word processing and bible programs we love with highly secured and "light" internet use options. Basically a way for us to continue to use these very effective tools without being monitored or tracked.
@wildgoose I am not well versed, but I do think that you are OK. In the end, the system for believers in the future will be neither, but perhaps a more linux based system. This is not a hill that I am willing to die on, but you bring up a good point, so I wanted to throw my 2 cents in there.
