Andy B 2 Minute Video Vlog, God, You and Me!, S3, E19

youtu.be/auTlallI_qE

Modern Christianity has skewed how we see God and the devil. It has skewed God into some sort of best mate or pal. And we absolutely should see God as always approachable. But we should do so, seeing Him with the respect we’d have for an earthly father, than just a mate.

In the same way, we’ve seen modern Christianity skew our perspective on our enemy - the devil.; that we somehow have power over him, which we, of course do not. Any power that can be exercised over the devil, comes from the blood of Jesus, and the complete and final defeat that Jesus exercised over the devil when He died and rose again three days later.

Endurance, Season 2, Episode 9, Being Flexible

Steven introduces our theme this week – Being Flexible

Go Deeper with Andy B, as he talks about how to be flexible.
He looks at the importance of being flexible physically, and how that relates to being flexible spiritually.

Steven & Nathan discuss what it means to ‘be flexible’:

Read and Remember:
Muscles need to be flexible, and this is a great metaphor for how we see our spiritual exercise too! Steven encourages us to read our Scripture for this week; James 4:13-16.

Reflect and Respond:
Nathan challenges us to be flexible because, just as it is vital that our physical muscles remain flexible, so it is that we remain spiritually flexible, because that will make us effective in our work for God.

We get reminders to renew our house insurance, our car insurance, our breakdown cover and host of other things.

But do we put as much effort into ensuring our car doesn’t suddenly become illegal to drive on the road, or let our house insurance run out ; if we’re renting in the UK this is something we can’t, not, have.

As Christians - when we pray - are we praying to a loving, Father God who desires us to spend time with Him?

Or do we prefer to pray using a non-permanent pen, just in case we got our prayer wrong and don’t want to look foolish.

When we’re praying, as David Wilkerson wonderful pointed out and illustrated in his book “The Cross and The Switchblade” when we pray we should pray out loud so others can hear us.

To me, that is the difference between writing with permanent and non-permanent pen; praying so others can hear might make us look foolish if ‘it doesn’t work out’. But it also demonstrates that we’re serious about what we’re speaking to God about.

Endurance, Series 2, Episode 8, The Warm Up

Steven introduces our theme this week – The Warm Up.

As usual, we have with Andy B and with Steven and Nathan.

Go Deeper with Andy B, who talks about ‘the warm up’ in relation to church and that uncommonly used word “edification”.

He looks at the idea of going to church, not to be served and to ‘consume’, but to edify fellow Believers, just as it says in our Scripture, 1 Corinthians 14:26.

We wouldn’t go the gym and expect to get fit by spectating. In the same way, we shouldn’t got to church and simply be consumers – we’re called to edify one another, and that’s means arriving at church, ready to worship and get involved in what is going on; as active participants - church is not meant to be a social club, after all!

Doing what God asks us to do can often start out really exciting. But are we doing it to be liked, or get likes or more downloads?

Or are we serving God, out of obedience and trust?

If we’re serving God we’ll always get what is needed to do what God is asking of us. From his own experience, Andy B can recount many times that ‘that thing we need’ invariably comes much later than we’d prefer.

But the working out of our faith isn’t gonna happen without times when we don’t have all we think we need right in front of us.

Really growing faith, happens when we trust God for the things we actually need, but don’t yet have!

Some days and weeks can be easier than others.

Sometimes, we can hit Tuesday morning and feel like the end of our working week is further than we can manage.

But God reminds, us repeatedly, that when we put our hands and lives in His, we’ll always what we need, to accomplish what He desires for us to accomplish – when we walk and work with Him

Andy B 2 Minute Video Vlog, Software, Updates and Change, S3, E12

youtu.be/J_NlcN-cF0c

We’ve recently had to change the software we use to edit the audio on everything we do!

It was a bit of a shock to think I’d have to unlearn a bunch of stuff, in order to use something new.

And, of course, it meant finding something new……….

In life, as with this software issue, things can come up which cause us issues. They may be fairly small issues – like audio editing software! Or something life defining like a tragic accident, or losing a job when you’re the only bread winner in your home.

But, we can choose to continue to let it define us, or accept we need to change and roll with the resistance!

Endurance, Season 2, Episode 7, Stay on Target!

Steven introduces our theme this week – Stay on Target!

As usual, we have with Andy B and with Steven and Nathan.

Go Deeper with Andy B as he explains what staying on target means.
He talks about how we should be witnessing to those in our orbit. We don’t have to travel to a foreign country to preach the Gospel. We ought to show God’s love to whomever He places within our reach, like our colleagues at work.

He also touches on the topic of pleasing others. We can’t possibly please everyone. Instead we should please God by doing what He has asked us to do.

Steven & Nathan discuss what ‘Staying on Target’ means for us, and what we can do about it:

Andy loves the kitchen! And he was inspired, a while ago, about how saucepans can teach us much about pressure in our lives, and letting that pressure go with God.

Today, he has a saucepan and a colander…both are great at straining, but with each the BerryBunch either lose rice – if they’re a bit too energetic pouring the wet rice in, or slipping the saucepan lid – and losing all the veg.

Even with a strainer, they are only as good as the size of the hole and the size of what you’re trying to strain through!

In life, there will always be things we’re trying to add in or take out, and we use filters and strainers every day to do that.

Andy B 2 Minute Video Vlog, Calendars, Organisation and Peace, S3, E10

Psalm 139 is a fairly well known piece of scripture, but it is verse 2 that really strikes Andy B as he considers Calendars, Organisation and Peace.

Psalm 139 v 2 tells us that God knows when we sit down and when we get up. So God definitely has a handle on what we can accomplish in any single day – for Him.

Andy B 2 Minute Video Vlog, Car Covers, Trees and Protection, S3, E9

Psalm 17 verse 8, says this “Protect me as the pupil of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings (CSB)

We love the idea of being under the protection of our Heavenly Father – as we should!

But after some issues with their car, due to an oak tree in their garden (and the ‘stuff’ it deposited on their car), Andy realised the small, summer, car cover - which only covered the windscreen – simply wasn’t big enough, so a full car cover was bought and put into use.

But it got him thinking - where are we struggling to protect something, when God is much bigger and better at completely protecting us?

Andy B 2 Minute Video Vlog, Plugged In and Not Switched on, S3, E8

I’ve spent all morning working on my laptop. I plugged it in to make sure it wouldn’t go flat only to find I never actually inserted the mains plugs at the other end…

Is this what we’re like with our bibles and relationship with God - we have our bibles open, but we’re not reading them; we pray, but don’t listen – or simply use words that aren’t our own hoping they’ll be good enough?

Let’s make sure when we’re spending time with God we’re speaking and listening too, and plug into the real source of all we’ll ever need, to accomplish everything that God wants to accomplish with us.

Andy B

Andy B was inspired by a post, written by a friend, that reminded us all that sometimes we can be surprised when God does answer our prayers.

Also, while filming Little Blessings Online, Andy was thinking about how Dave the Dog had thought of that talking bush, that Moses encountered.

In our lives, are we hearing the bush, or the voice of God?

Let’s not miss what God is doing or saying, by being surprised He is doing or saying anything. He is, after all, a loving father, who delights in His children.

While this doesn’t mean we’ll simply get everything we want, let’s at least be expectant that God is wanting to bless us and answer our prayers!

Let’s not miss God!!

Some days we can soar like eagles. Other days, it feels like the eagle never found a thermal.

But feelings come and go. And good days and bad days come and go to.

But no matter what sort of a day we’re having, there is ALWAYS something to be thankful for.

Andy B shared a post earlier today about working and walking in God’ strength, titled "Busy days and God’s rhythm"

That post started with these words…

“Busy day ahead? Make sure you stop before you start, so you’ll be able to finish!”

…before Andy went to look at how we can expound those words to make for more God like appear!

And how often do we charge into the day, because it is such a busy day, that we forget to ask what God had in mind for us, for that day, for His Kingdom?!?

Andy B 2 Minute Video, Helping Others Can Be Easy

Today, Andy B drove jo – his wife – to work. Something he doesn’t normally do!

It meant he could return a faulty product easily, in the family car – which was great.

But it meant he could take a load off Jo – as a former trucker, 90 minutes of driving twice in a day is not even close to taxing, but for some it might be.

So where is God nudging you to help somebody today?

It might not cost you much of anything other than your time – the only free commodity we all have - but it could mean the world to them!
