One of my best friends with his daughter after her high school Christmas concert! His family was displaced by the Khmer Rouge and a local church in my home town figured out a way to get them out of a Thai refugee camp. We were good friends growing up, but he and his family were Buddhist and didn't have anything to do with the church. We had good discussions and I prayed that he would find his faith one day. That day finally came after college and he and his daughter are believers. Don't give up!

Merry Christmas to all Dingdashers! 🎄🎁 The "most important" day of Christmas is Christmas Eve, Dec 24th, when we have Christmas dinner and give presents (in the evening) in Finland and Sweden. We celebrated with relatives today, and will continue tomorrow with other relatives. It's been snowing heavily today, about 40 cm. So fun to play in the snow! ❄

When Saul allowed David to go fight Goliath, I imagine him taking many deep breaths, perhaps hyperventilating and wondering if he'd actually just handed his own head to the enemy.

Who can you give authority to, so they can be [further]empowered to do Gods will?!?

When David went to face Goliath, he stripped off the armour that the King gave him, so that he could fight his own way; so that he could fight the way God had trained him to fight.

Where is God stripping away your armour so you, too, can fight His way?!?

As we face up to another house move, I miss the home we owned, that we sold so we can live by faith - over 15 years ago.

It was a huge piece of armour! And yet, we have fought many battles, since, that that piece of armour would have prevented us from fighting.

So, where is God stripping away the armour you value - so you can fight God's way, in the way He has already trained you?

Tomorrow's devotional post is taken from Hebrews 11:8-10, on the subject of going "Forward By Faith" as seen in the life of Abraham. I found this one exciting to write, all glory to God our Father.

"We are often called to leave worldly connexions, interests, and comforts. If heirs of Abraham's faith, we shall obey and go forth, though not knowing what may befall us; and we shall be found in the way of duty, looking for the performance of God's promises."

Just like a tired Mary with baby Jesus won't be happy the drummer boy, sending some cryons and chocolates may not be appreciated by poverty stricken rural folks. Rather a gift that stays and can alleviate some of their challenges, would be ideal.
Give what is relevant in this season of giving.
