@tanjaostman There are plenty who do call them a cult, and of course there is much variation in a population of any church. But in my experience there are many sincere Believers in their number. My parents accepted the Lord as a result of their door to door missionaries, even though they never joined that church. The LDS have been very helpful in helping the anointed tv series "The Chosen" to happen. The Lord is definitely at work in their midst despite some views and beliefs other Christians object to. It rankles me to hear them dismissed as a cult.
@lynnexxa @tanjaostman I've been blessed by hearing testimonies of people from the Mormon community who truly gave their lives to Jesus. The testimonies are so encouraging. But, these people faced persecution from the Mormon community for embracing the true Gospel.
@lynnexxa @tanjaostman We should treat everyone with God's love. I'm glad your parents came to the Lord as a result of the missionaries.
I don't doubt there are many sincere people who are part of LDS, but there are many sincere people in all kinds of religions. The LDS people talk about Jesus, but they don't follow the true Gospel. They have a different "gospel". It's not a matter of small differences in beliefs, but a totally different understanding of God and life. It can sound very similar to the Christian faith on the surface, but then things get very strange as you go deeper. Have you watched any of their movies? It's an odd feeling to think you're watching a Christian movie and then it turns weird. I've experienced this with Mormon movies and with a Chinese cult as well. I forgot the name of the Chinese one, but they have several names for the same group. It looks good at first and they use Christian words, but...NO.
