@bethany sometimes the rain can make it special. perhaps we need gloomy days - something about them makes me enjoy my food a little more, stay in bed a little longer, build a fire a little bigger, and opt for a good 'slow burn' book/movie. these things seem a little more special in gloomy weather. maybe this is why england has been blessed with such amazing authors in the past? reading and writing do seem more enjoyable when daily sunshine is more rare.
@sinbach have we talked about this before? The best writing that truly stands the test of time is usually (at worst) depressing and (at best) reflective. Both of those come more naturally with gloomy weather. I'm convinced there's a link there
@bethany yes we have talked about this before! my theory is sunshine preachers are popular in the moment but are often forgotten over time because they lack the depth that proceeds posterity.
it seems that gloomy weather and hard lives have something to contribute to our understanding of life, love, and salvation.
@sinbach I thought we had! Just came back to me. Maybe you need to do all your writing in England from now on π
The same theory goes for songs too - Amazing Grace, It Is Well....
@bethany maybe this is why i always head to cold weather areas for all of my writing. the colder, the better. cold, remote, dark...reflective.
@andyharris @sinbach I'm not sure you're going to convince him to move to Rotherham, however cold, dark and desolate it may be π
@bethany @andyharris not true! I LOVE Rotherham - not because of the weather - but because of the people!
@sinbach @andyharris there's a few who will probably try and throw you a welcome home party when you're finally able to come back here again π
@bethany @andyharris i want to love this even more than just one heart click. i suddenly feel ....loved!
tell all my dear dear friends in Rotherham that I miss them and can't wait to see them again!
@andyharris pretty cool. π
@andyharris @sinbach yeah for some reason I've managed to go my whole life without knowing that even existed
@sinbach it is pretty beautiful - even with the rain
