@Berrybunchfamily I really hate the long, dark period. It's cozy for a few weeks, but 4-6 months with too little sunlight is too much for me. The lack of light affects the brain chemistry that regulate mood, alertness and energy levels. It would be fine if we could just hibernate, but I need to go to work. I have a lamp on the kitchen table that we call light therapy in Swedish. The lack of vit D we supplement with fish oil or vit D. Many travel south for a week or two during winter. We use to do it when we have enouugh money and time. For obvious reasons we haven't traveled further than to Sweden since Jan 2020 when we were in southeast Asia.
@tanjaostman over here it is called SAD (Seasonal Adjustment Disorder).
Back when we had our eco shop, we sold the same thing you mentioned - it emitted a natural daylight, rather than then yellow light you tend to get from light bulbs
They seemed brighter, yet really weren't - just a better frequency of light
We sold them as they were cheaper to run than normal bulbs
@Berrybunchfamily yest, they talk about SAD even here. It's so common. But it's so much lighter when we have snow. I thank God every day I wake up to this beautiful scenery. We have had it for two weeks already, with no melting in between. Very unusual where I live to get proper winter already in November.
@tanjaostman snow..............we don't get much
@Berrybunchfamily do you get a little snow every winter?
@tanjaostman yes. There are people who have been snowed in, without power, for over a week now
We do get snow, but it is so uncommon, generally, that it always is quite a shock, and nobody is ever ready
We used to live in a house that was 250m above sea level, and we sometimes got snow like you are used to. I never even noticed that UK weather forecasts have two parts, until we lived there. One is the forecast, one is the forecast over 250metres above sea level...every day is a learning day
@tanjaostman oh absolutely
@Berrybunchfamily I took the picture two minutes ago, at 3:20 PM. Sunset already. At least we get a little ight this time of the year.
@tanjaostman Peter was grateful for that image 🙂
@tanjaostman @Berrybunchfamily looks like my morning! We've had rain lately. I don't like rain in the winter...
@tanjaostman cool. We sold a bulb that would fit in any normal light fitting. That's kind of cool!
@Berrybunchfamily ok interesting! I hadn't heard of them.
@tanjaostman they were simply called daylight bulbs
It's been a few years. I'm sure there's better technology now
@tanjaostman do you have anything to deal with the lack of sunlight on your skin?
