@MaryMamuzich beautiful surroundings!
@sinbach ... and if you would pronounce 'ch' correctly German you have to make a "throat sound", that we don't have in Swedish or English. Johann Sebastian Bach.
@sinbach I also like pickled herring (it's very Finnishas well) - it's another thing than surströmming even if it's the same fish. But I If you are interested in eating healthy, then I can inform you that it's really healthy! Such a funny story about the Swedish girl Bäck! You are a little bit Swede then, even in your blood. 😀 I studied German 5 years in school but have never spoken it, so I have forgotten most of it, but I knew that Bach equals Bäck. Swedish and German have many very similar words. But the grammar is more complicated than the English grammar.
@sinbach the most stinky fish in the world must be the Swedish surströmming (sour herring)!! Have you heard of it or tasted? I have tasted it once... not in my taste, but I didn't spit it out or throw up. 😂 We were in an apartment and had to open it on the balcony because of the stink.

It's so easy to fall into the trap of repeating Christian clichés/phrases, without really meaning them or even knowing what they mean. Just don't.

I'm a little proud that Finland (= Suomi in Finnish on their shirts) won over the US yesterday in their first match in the IIHF World Championship in Latvia yesterday! This is a small country of 5,5 million people and with much, much less money involved in all sports. But on the other hand every Finnish child learns to skate at the age of 7 or younger. In addition many Finnish hockey players who use to compete for our country have already been headhunted to NHL and other leagues in the USA and Canada where they have gotten great training. Who will win the whole competition?

Great and funny examples of what makes English difficult! The spelling system is extremely irregular. I've learned a lot of words only by reading English (that you don't learn by watching Hollywood movies), and I have to admit that I don't know if I pronounce them correctly. 😅 English has several times more words than my mother tongue Swedish, and that makes it so fascinating - BUT I agree with the article: Why aren't there specific words for "the day after tomorrow" and "the day before yesterday"? Like "övermorgon" and "förrgår" in Swedish.

@sinbach 😂
@MaryMamuzich I was like you as a child... 😀
@MaryMamuzich @sinbach he is referring to an interview he already made in October, if I get it right. You find a link to the podcast in the article.
@sinbach Wow, I thought that the Ev. Luth. Ch. in the US was more conservative than the highly politicized Lutheran state churches here. The interview is great! I am glad that you don’t back down! One of my husband’s cousins is a Christian transgender (from female to male). She has undergone a mastectomy (in 2019). And the interesting thing is that she still wants to be my friend despite what I've shared on FB. A couple of months after the surgery she wanted to visit us and said “I am glad that you share what you share and don’t give up on your views”. WHAT did I just hear?! She admitted that she will never become a real man, it’s in the DNA. And the most talented surgeon can’t change her genitals for real. There is no room for more text here... but what’s going on right now in the world (and Churches) is craziness! I pray for this relative that she will transition back to female, even if she has looked like and felt like a boy all of her life! Deep inside she knows this is no solution
@OneofTen I agree! 😀
Swedish-speaking Finn from Finland. Wife, mother of one boy (2008). Teaching special education at the local university. I belive that the Organic Church/House Church is the NT way of doing Church. I'm interested in what's going on in the underground Church and I pray for the persecuted Christians.
