@Knittinggrace the KJV is probably clearer, yes. From ESV one may have to relate peddler more to its synonym huckster which more clearly has the negative connotation of corruption or the like. I take peddler as negative when it comes to God’s word though, as we are not “selling something” when we make an appeal for the gospel. There’s no life in a sales promotion.
As I reflect on Pauls' writings, this is also amazing stuff from the Spirit of God: “But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God’s word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.” - 2 Cor. 2:14-17
Who is sufficient for these things?
@jezzadiah4messiah “The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

@Lindseyay Yes! God’s word = His will
Today celebrating Christ’s finished work that accomplished so much!
“We came to realize that the thing we prayed for most, would never be answered by God:
1) Asking Him to do what He already accomplished by Christ’s sacrifice
2) Asking Him to do what He already commissioned us to do”
- TL Osborne, The Message that Works
@Lindseyay agreed! I was also surprised to learn some new things about prayer from a book I read by TL Osborne called the Message that Works in his chapter on victorious prayer. Some of you on Ding Dash May want to check it out. Here’s the most relevant section.
