sometimes when we think of slavery and human trafficking, we think of the problem of other nations, when the fact is, it's happening in our own backyard

Our dear American friend Eric (to the right) visited our home. We had fellowship with another family. Eric moved to northern Sweden around 30 years ago to become a missionary to Swedes, indigenous Samis (in northern Swe, Finland, Norway), Swedish-speaking Finns (like us), Russians and others… He travels regularly to Armenia. He is a kitchen table mentor and teacher, even if he is okay with the pulpit as well. He was one of the first I met around 15 years ago, who said that he prefers gathering in homes instead of church buildings, that he was leading through friendship and mentoring. He is setting an example (not only talking from distance), and he brings people with him when he travels. It’s OK to call him on the phone when there’s a need, and ok to ask any question. Today he told me: “Remember to be a human being, not a human doer!” He knows my upbringing and background, so I need that reminder every now and then. It makes me sad that there are so few spiritual mothers and fathers.

@sinbach such a great picture! Perfect! Mittåkläppen sounds so familiar. Think we went there when we were in Funäsdalen.

Andy B 2 Minute Video, Reflection and Progress - a written post!

I’m working on two books at the moment.

And by working, I mean I have a title cover for both; I’ve got one book basically ready for publishing, and one book about half the way through as I rewrite some previous works into what is already a 3 part series.

I’ve been working on writing a book for nearly 20 years…the one I began back then is still where it was when I first wrote it…it’s a good book, but I’ve never really finished it.

But as I look back over our time doing BerryBunch, and especially my Andy B 2 Minute Videos (we’re on Season 4 now, by the way) it’s super encouraging to see where I began, the journey I’ve been on up to this point, what it has become now, and what is already pushing me on towards! [READ MORE]

@sinbach from Back To Jerusalem joined me for an important conversation about Christians in the military and a particularly ANTI-Christian action our military leaders performed against Christianity in Afghanistan. Eugene argues that this action is THE REASON we failed to bring freedom to Afganistan.

Our garden today. This season at its best, before all leaves have fallen off. We have had many rainy days in Aug-Sept so I have enjoyed this Saturday.

We were walking a 4,5 kilometers nature trail today, not far from home. Thankful to have nature all around us in Finland. Never far from the forest, the sea or one of the 188 000 lakes.

Warm bowl of salmon soup after watching the sun go down from a hot sauna.
Perfect way to end the day!

@tanjaostman Funäsdalen is 20 minutes from our cabin. there are thousands of miles of cross country trails here which is what we enjoy and we can ski until mid-june. i would argue that you actually save money in sweden (depending on how long you stay). we have always found finland super expensive. we often take the ferry over when we travel to finland and take our car because car rental is so much cheaper in sweden, as is the price of fuel, food, lodging, and skiing. sweden is cheaper than even the US when it comes to lift passes. even now when we go skiing in america, we find the prices almost twice as much as in sweden.

Andy B 2 Minute Video, Rocking Chair Worries, S4, E13

Andy B took Jo for her return trip to the dentist, but while Andy and Jo share many traits and interests, one thing Jo does REALLY well, is not worrying about things she either has no control over, or things that haven’t yet come to pass.

With a hyper-sensitivity to needles, Andy would have been worrying for two weeks straight, letting the anxiety grow, thinking through the various things that could go wrong. Positive side of that trait, is the ability to read ahead, see the problems before they happen and prevent them – which makes event planning really easy.

But much like that rocking chair, how much time have we lost, or energy spent, getting busy with action on that rocking chair, until we start t feel seasick from all that rocking, but making absolutely no progress...[READ MORE]
