""One obvious solution would be for [Putin] to give up, but when a dictator loses face and gives up, he is in a weak position. Another alternative is for him to expand the war, making it a bigger conflict," explained Toveri, a former intelligence chief at Finland's Defence Command."

"A NUMBER of Russians have left Russia over concerns about the rumoured declaration of martial law and the impact of crippling economic sanctions.

With scheduled flights out of the country suspended except for Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, many have turned their attention to the rail service operated between the Finnish capital of Helsinki and St. Petersburg by VR, the Finnish state-owned railway company."

Please, pray also for the Russian people! All Russians don't support Putin, and life is getting harder in Russia. But I'm afraid they won't feel very welcome in Finland, as hatred towards Russians increase all over the world. Some Finns hate Russians, because of what their forefathers did to our country. But ordinary people are never responsible for their government, or for what their ancestors did!

Today we had a meeting at my workingplace regarding our Russian and Ukrainian students and colleagues. We have zero tolerance for hate speech.

Any thoughts or insights on the idea of the great reset, Klaus Schwab or the World Economic Forum?

This Russian troup (VDV) decided to take the elevator, heading for the rooftop of a building in Charkiv, from where they could open fire. This was not smart, as the caretaker of the building stopped the elevator between two floors, and then they were handed over to the Ukrainians.

Part 2 Thomas Gür on FB (about what Russians google): "Queries for “flights” increased nine-fold from the week ending February 20th to the week ending February 27th. More Russians are asking Google “how to leave Russia” than have done so in 18 years since such data became public. Searches in the final two weeks of February were 16 times higher than the average weekly search volume from the past five years. Finnish trains from St Petersburg to Helsinki—which typically accommodate far fewer passengers than they have capacity for—have been packed with Russian travellers since February 27th. VR Group, a Finnish train company, told The Economist they plan to double the number of daily trains in order to address the growing demand from Russian passengers."

Thomas Gür on FB: "What Russians are googling: "A survey conducted between February 17th and 21st—that is, in the week before Mr Putin’s invasion—by the Levada Centre, an independent Russian pollster, found that 43% of Russians between the ages of 18 and 24 wanted to leave the country for good. And 44% of those who hoped to emigrate cited the “economic situation” as their motivation.

That situation is likely to get a lot worse. Western sanctions have created an economic storm: rising inflation, a crashing currency, and imports that are expected to dwindle. Many Russians will soon struggle to afford what they need to survive.

Eagerness to leave seems to be mounting. Data from Google Trends, which tracks how often particular words are entered into its search engine, show that Russian-language searches for “political asylum”, “emigration”, “flights” and “visa” all leapt in Russia in the days leading up to the invasion on February 24th..."

The president of Finland interviewed by Fox News last night, during his short visit to the USA. He's probably the president who has met Putin more than any other leader. They ask about Putin. Finnish politicians have learned to choose their words wisely when discussing Russia, and talking to Russian leaders. By meeting with the president of the United States, with the CIA, and two prominent Republican leaders as well, he is signaling very strongly that we are leaning towards the USA. But he doesn't want to talk openly about NATO, because he doesn't want to provoke Russia. The fact that the top leaders of USA have rescheduled to meet with our president on a short notice tells a lot of the seriousness. And our president is a trustworthy, experienced politician. Today the Swedish prime minister and defense minister will come to Finland to meet with our president. Please continue to pray for Ukraine and Russia but even for Finland and Sweden!

What's going on with some (ex) celebrities in Los Angeles? Is California a harsher place than other states? There are too many Hollywood celebrities that die young, who overdose, who are addicted to different things etc. They have everything (fame, money) - but are distressed and unhappy. Some seem to be under demonic oppression. Did they sell their soul to Mammon, and then lost everything? We don't have anything like Hollywood in the Nordic countries, we don't have as many extremely rich people and so much luxury, or as many people living in poverty or as homeless as there. We don't have as much illegal drugs here. I don't see homeless people in Finland - I sometimes see drug addicts in the streets, but they have homes or shelters, and I've never seen someone here sleeping in tents or in the street. I'm always a little shocked when I hear about someone that has been a celebrity, and has ended up in the street. The contrasts are so stark!

Russian fighters violate Swedish airspace as Finland-Sweden hold military drills
The Swedish Air Force described the incident as being "particularly serious" given the current situation, and called the Russian actions unprofessional and irresponsible.

In this episode @sinbach talks about the war and the refugee crises in Europe. I feel honoured and touched that he makes comparisons with, and tell about, the Finnish Winter War during WWII against the Russian army. ❤️ 🙏 There are few that can place Finland (and many other foreign countries) on a map, and Eugene knows not only where the countries are, but also have visited them and knows a lot of details about them.

Please pray for Finland and Sweden, for protection! I don't know what could possibly happen, but these days are traumatic/emotional for Finns, both because of the former wars against Russia, and because of the indirect threaths Putin has uttered.

Please pray for our president Sauli Niinistö that will leave for the USA tomorrow for an appointment with Joe Biden! (I shared a statement from our president in an earlier post today). As you might know Finland and Sweden are among the few nations in Europe that are not members of NATO.

We have a lot of prejudices about other nationalities... Some of these people come from the same countries as my DingDash friends. It's a little funny. Do you agree with them?

Many Russians flee Russia by train to Finland. In a war everyone is a loser. We are all sisters and brothers. There are many Russians living in Finland, and many experience more bullying or harrassment, because of what's going on in Ukraine. That's too sad.

In your first language you most of the time hear what's correct. But when you learn a second language you don't always trust your knowledge... I was unsure if there should be a definite article before Ukraine - so I googled and found this enlightening article. The correct name is Ukraine, without a definite article (the).

"Ukraine or the Ukraine: Why do some country names have 'the'? - BBC News" bbc.com/news/magazine-18233844

From a pastor in Ukraine. I found it on FB, "Radiant Israel."

I am not a person who usually blocks others on social media, but the last two weeks I have blocked three persons on DingDash. All of them with anonymous profiles, two of them my followers. I suppose all three were from the Mastadon network. The combination anonymity and ad hominem – attacking a person instead of attacking an argument, makes me lose my patience. It’s the lowest form of argumentation. Yesterday someone called @sinbach names in my post, just because he is American and a former military. That was too much for this person to handle, so he used the argumentum ad hominem.
After 14 years on FB I don’t have the same patience anymore. I’ve been kind and polite to people that haven’t been kind or polite to me. I don’t want the same thing on DD. Don't expect me to respect your opinions if I don't know anything about you. I don't understand why people are so anonymous, if they don't have to for security reasons (like missionaries).
