Spurgeon started a college for young men who were eager to preach but of a lower class than those who were generally accepted into the seminary schools of the day. Spurgeon started the school in cooperation with a man who disagreed with him doctrinally on several points.

I think that this fact is fascinating.

It seems to me that Spurgeon’s success is not attributed to his precise intellectual theology or Biblical interpretation, but to practical theology and humility. Spurgeon spoke to the average person in a language that they understood. Spurgeon sought to reach his audience instead of pleasing the religious elites and establishment. Spurgeon served humbly as a pastor and the people responded with gratitude.

Nothing really changes. Jesus said, “the least shall be the greatest and the greatest shall be the servant of all.”

Ministry = serving others

We must stand against sexual immorality of every kind. We must begin immediately.
It all leads to Hell.

In 1802, the Baptists in Danbury, CT, wrote President Thomas Jefferson and expressed fear that a growing federal government would come to threaten the free expression of religious speech.

Jefferson wrote them back and insisted that a “wall of separation exists between church and state.” In the context of the rest of his letter, it is unmistakable that Jefferson meant that government was intended to protect the free expression of religious speech, not restrict it.

Your beliefs and views are indeed meant to influence the spirit of American government. We don’t force it on people but our nation is special because of the very belief that because we are created beings, we have dignity, and with dignity come the unalienable rights we hold dear.

Many members of Generation X feel that they are fatherless, spiritually homeless, and without a strong sense of national allegiance. Cynicism, corporate detachment, and national passivity have marked our generation. But something is waking up in our hearts at long last. Is this the year we see national revival?

Many of Spurgeon’s religious critics complained that his preaching in the common vernacular and in music halls was “irreverent.” Never mind that it was effective! How many times have we put our judgment of the process above the actual results of our behavior?!
In response to his critics concerning where Spurgeon held meetings, he said,

“Wherever people are assembled to worship God, that place is sacred, whether beneath the magnificent canopy of the blue sky or in a building such as that in which we are now assembled, every place is sacred when devoted to such a purpose, for Thou, God art everywhere.”

Jesus said the same thing when He told His disciples: “Wherever two or more are gathered in my name; I am there in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20

One the reasons for Charles Spurgeon’s success, maybe the main reason, is that he tried to communicate truth to his audience in a way that they understood instead of trying to impress his religious colleagues.

“All men are created equal and are endowed by our Creator with inalienable rights.”

It is this belief that has allowed the greatest distribution of wealth in the world. This is also why the global elitists hate our founding documents. They only want two classes: themselves and slaves.

I think Jesus approves of the opportunity our founding documents afford the poor. God Bless America

Charles Spurgeon was a Calvinist, though not hyper. I am not a Calvinist at all, so far as I understand the man. But Charles Spurgeon and I were fed from the same block of cheese. Charles refused the title of Reverand, believed that ordination comes from God, not man, and was generally a non-conformist in dress and attitude.
I may be less of a non-conformist than in my younger years, but I can’t help feeling tickled by the young Spurgeon’s fire 🔥 , fight and disposition.
