Dear friends!

My best friend Sam will have his interview tomorrow. Interview means hearing and verdict for those seeking asylum in Austria. He has come to know Jesus 6 years ago in Iran and has fled to Austria, where he has been ever since.

Please pray for a positive decision, allowing him not only to stay but also to visit his family in Germany.

As christians grow up, we tend to hear a lot about the future, God's plan for us, the glorious future with Him in new Jerusalem, and so on.
Living in the moment is portrayed as a worldly phrase.
But is it really?
God doesn't care about our past, he has paid for all our mistakes. He also doesn't want us to get lost in fears and false hopes for the future. The only time that counts to Him is right now.
Is my heart with God in this very moment?!

Can I suggest something for you?
Try to turn your perspective 180 degrees around for a certain period of time, maybe a month. During this time try to make a case for what I've just said and find supporting scripture.
If you do that and create a post here where you show me your findings, I'll be more than happy to add my two cents of understanding to the argument.

Quite the opposite is the case - we have been given that privilege as a gift (with all advantages and disadvantages). As people who are called to deny themselves and lay down their rights, we should be happy to share our wealth with those in need.
I need to work this out in practice but in theory, it is a no brainer.
All of this of course is no excuse to let down our guard. If there are ex daesh fighters among refugees, they should of course receive their just verdict.

The way the refugee crisis was dealt with could for sure be improved. However the fact that European countries decided to act and not to let hundreds of thousands of people drown in the Mediterranean, to me is a great witness of the Christian inheritance, even though it consists of tradition only to the most part nowadays. Some people seem to think, we have somehow earned the right to live in a great nation and we must therefore defend it.
