@Cherishingsparrows2020 @sinbach I used to work as a teacher before I became a home-stay mother, so I watched "the Chorus" back then and could really relate to it and thought it was a film done with a good heart (although it's not a Christian movie).
@sinbach Thank you dear brother 😇🙏
@Susan @Cherishingsparrows2020 @sinbach Sounds interesting, thanks!
@sinbach About your post of wearing a gun: I told my husband about my conversation with you, and he didn't like it AT ALL that I had questioned you in this issue. He gave me at least 10 reasons why it's good to wear a gun with you, and said there's even 300 more reasons than these!! He really got me convinced and convicted.
I need to say Eugene that please forgive me for questioning you, even confronting you at some points and issues here at dingdash - I don't want to be disrespectful to you! 😥
I want to say I really honour you and your work as a leader in the BTJ - God bless you mightly!! 🙏💖
Your sister in Christ, Sari
@tanjaostman A lot of good points! Ive also understood it so that the church is, and should look like, as a living body with Christ as the head and as a building with living stones with Jesus as the cornerstone. It's a family where we are brothers and sisters, and where there are spiritual babies, youth and parents (so called elders, 1. Tim. 5:17).
"If Jesus Christ is the head of His Church (instead of a dominant leader), and Lord of our lives, things will fall into place".
Yes, Jesus is our Head, his Word is the lamp to our feet and His Spirit is our guide. We don't need one strong leader or an Old Testament priesthood-system to dominate us. However, we need to recognize, that no one can manage by themelves, even if one have these all in his/her personal life. We need not only the encouragement of one another, but also to be corrected, even disciplined (1. Cor. 5), by others (especially those who are mature in Christ:are elders) if we have gone astray and don't recognize our sin.

A quote from S. Wigglesworth
"Take your position from the first epistle of John and declare, “He who is in [me] is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4).
Then recognize that it is not you who has to deal with the power of the Devil, but the Greater One who is in you.
Oh, what it means to be filled with Him! You can do nothing in yourself, but He who is in you will win the victory".
@tanjaostman 😂 so true!!
@Cherishingsparrows2020 @sinbach I must say I haven't had too many opportunities since we got children to watch a whole movie, other than kids movies. 😂So with our older kids I've liked to watch "Narnia" (especially the Lion and the Witch) but I also found it very amusing to watch the movie "The Incredibles" - it pictured the familylife in such a aptly way! 😄
Some other movies I've liked:
- "The Chorus"
(It's maybe not that known, so here's the trailer: https://m.imdb.com/video/vi801177881?playlistId=tt0372824&ref_=vp_rv_ap_0 )
- "The courageous"
What's @Cherishingsparrows2020 your favorite movies?
Anyone else who would like to tell their favorite movies?
Jesus Christ my living hope!!❤
@sinbach Thank you for giving me an insight of the movie, it did help me to better understand your point of view.
Yes, I have watched the movie (maybe those other in the series too..?) in my youth, sometimes in the 90's. So when you brought it up and to refresh my memory, I went and read the story from the net. 😅
I have in my youth watched SO many movies, too many!, and most of them that kind of which I'd rather forget!
I found Jesus (or better said, Jesus found me!) when I was 23-years old. Since then I haven't had the thurst for the kind of movies anymore which don't build up my faith or have something that I can relate too. I have realized my time is too short and valuable - I have already spoiled too much of it! - so now I just want to use it wisely. 🙏
@sinbach While I now have getting started 😄 would you please explain also your thoughts about the Rocky movie, so I can learn something of you..?
Because, what I know about it: there was a friend of Rocky who started boxing with the Russian guy (Dolph Lundgren) and because of his stubborness (=he refused to quit in time) he died, being knocked out by the Russian. So then Rocky starts to exercise as a crazy, because he wants to take revenge on behalf of his friends death. And finally he beats him and wins.
I can in a way understand Rockys eager to win the Russian. But what I have most difficulties with, is the vengeance Rocky is feeling. I see that's nothing for a Christian to learn from. Whats you're thoughts of it, or do you see it in some other way than me? But that's one big reason for me why I can't recommend it.
Also the boxing in itself of course is something I don't enjoy watching, but I don't know if testosterones would help for that. Probably not. 🙄😂
@sinbach Thanks for your answer!
I think you might be underestimating me and what I'm capable to understand, even as a woman 😉
If wearing a gun is because of giving protection, like as a bodyguard, I don't have problems understanding that. I think my husband would react in a similar way as you, if he had to go on a tour with a woman that had been given fatwa. So I do respect your way of thinking and I can see the love behind your actions.
I even understand how sometimes obeying God could mean breaking the law. God sure can lead us to act so, for His greater purposes.
And no, I'm not that kind of a person who get offended too easy. So as long as I'm concerned, I have no problems for us remaining friends. 😇 I don't mind us having different views in some areas, but I do like to change thoughts and express my opinion! In that way I might learn something or understand things in a new way. If that's OK for you. 😊
@sinbach Okey, could you please explain to me why would someone carry a gun with him on the streets? I as a Finn don't understand this at all. I can somehow see that to have a gun inside your house, you might be able to scare away possible intruders or burglers (if you are living in a very bad area of a large city.) But why carry it with you? What is the meaning of a gun in your pocket? I do wish to understand this!
@Berrybunchfamily 😅 exactly! I just read in the Finnish national news (yle), how it's bad for the environment that the cows chew the cud! That's how crazy it can get when you understand nothing about God as the Creator...
@Berrybunchfamily Spring is arriving and it is so very welcome. It's wonderful to enjoy the "little things" in life, such as hanging your clean laundry. There is so much going on in the world today that can dishearten us or cause us to fear. In this world, we will face trouble, but JESUS has overcome the world. He's already done it. It's not that He might do it, or even that He will do it eventually. He HAS done it. Resurrection Sunday is coming soon, but we can already celebrate His victory that is now ours. We can enjoy the good gifts He gives us. I believe He wants us to enjoy the sunrise, the sunset, a job well-done, a smile or hug from a loved one, a greeting from a stranger, or whatever goodness He sends our way. He knows there are difficulties to face, but our seeing His hand in the small details of life helps to put these trials in perspective. He is so worthy of our praise and our worship. Thank you for sharing these joys from your day!
@Jo_PrayerN_actionCenter I have actually one thought myself to share on the subject.
I read a book about a muslim woman who became a Christian. She lived in a country where there was a risk as a lonely woman to be raped on the streets if not walking with a man escort. Then she heard of a Christian missionary who had started giving women courses in self defense (including karate or something !) and she felt God lead her to go to the courses. With those skills, she was then able to attend church meetings on other side of town and yes, she was sometimes forced to use her skills for not being raped or harassed.
BUT when her own father found out about her Christian faith, he became full of anger and started heavily beating her up. At this moment she didn't resist him at all, but let him do what he did, in other words she turned the other cheek and just felt God's love in that moment and towards her father too. This I found very interesting to read.
I'm Mikko's wife and mother of our 5 wonderful children. We live in south of Finland, but I was born and raised up in north of Sweden. Jesus is my everything and my purpose in life is to follow him in everything I am and do. ❤
