I laughed at first, but when I saw the pain and agony that she went through, I felt bad about laughing. Perhaps this would have been so much funnier if it were a guy?

@lynnexxa he shook the world through AM talk radio. AM radio was supposed to be dead! FM, TV, Cable, the Internet - those were the major outlets for media - BUT Rush brought power through the AM radio. AM talk radio grew so powerful with him as a voice, that the left tried to shut it down, control it and create regulations. it takes a special gift to draw crowds like he did on an outdated medium.

Wow. what a day. Lost another childhood hero.
Rush Limbaugh. Wow.
I know, I know...some of you might hate on me because of this one, but I lived on AM radio during long road trips and if Rush was on, I was there! He wasn't a Christian singer, not a preacher, not a Bible thumper - but still a major contributor to lives around the world and influenced the way I communicate today.
Rest well Rush. Your fight is over.

@Rinati me too. I remember when I was 15 years old, I promised God that if I got a car, I would only play Christian music in and use it for His purpose. Carmen, Ray Boltz (who graduated from my high school), Petra, Michael W Smith, DC Talk, Amy Grant, Jars of Clay, and even Sandy Patti were the ONLY ones I jammed out to in my car as a teenager.

@bethany he told stories in the way that we were talking about the other day. The Courtroom, The Champion, The Witch's invitation, Lazarus...I think the first Christian music video I ever watched was "Satan Bite the Dust." Believe it or not, my parents - who were not Christian - would not let me listen to Carmen because they said, and I quote, "If you are going to listen to Christian music - then listen to Christian music. Stop listening to that rap crap pretending to be Christian music." Upon thinking about it today, I realized that I started off secretly listening to Christian music that was not allowed in our home. So is it so weird that I do what I do today??? Did Carmen contribute to my illegal Christian activity today?

@bethany I remember secretly traveling in Henan Province to see this location. The police were conducting road blocks that day looking for foreigners. I was hidden in the back of a car and when we arrived at the check point, the police checked every car - except for ours. They just waved us through!!!
This cave was used to train more than half of the leaders that I work with today and it was all dug out by hand.

I didn't come from a Christian home. If you want to know one of the Christian heroes that shaped my life as a young rebellious teenager - it was CARMEN.
His music inspired me, taught me, and helped me grow as a believer.
He will be missed, but today this former bar performer turned Christian singer that touched so many lives, including my own, is with the Father and will see the fruits of his labor.
