I had to share this (especially for @MaryMamuzich and @Berrybunchfamily).
I was at someone's house for dinner last night, and they made maybe the most typical Yorkshire meal there is. Made me think of you both πŸ˜‚

@bethany @MaryMamuzich wow. That's looks fab (well apart from the parsnips)

Beef and yorkies...the perfect association

@Berrybunchfamily @bethany @MaryMamuzich And, waffles? Were they made with a waffle iron, or a waffle maker?🀣
I've actually tried making some yorkshire puddings after learning about them through your "dings" here on Ding Dash! My family and I enjoyed them. Thanks for introducing us!

@Cherishingsparrows2020 @Berrybunchfamily @MaryMamuzich oh you have? That's so crazy! I don't know that 'British cuisine' really has anything to offer to be totally honest, so I'm glad there was something you enjoyed from here in Yorkshire πŸ˜‚

@bethany @Cherishingsparrows2020 @MaryMamuzich

Bethany!!!!!

Fish and chips
Toad in the hole
Steak and kidney pudding
Dandelion and Burdock
Yorkshire Puddings the size of dinner plates

To name a but a few ;-)

@Berrybunchfamily @Cherishingsparrows2020 @MaryMamuzich
I'm SORRY πŸ˜‚ British food just doesn't do it for me most of the time... but if our US dingdash friends can enjoy it, I'm happy

@Berrybunchfamily @bethany @Cherishingsparrows2020 this list doesn't do it for me either. I must say it made me lift my eyebrows and wrinkle my nose a bit. Kidney pudding, dandelion and burdocks... toads.... I'll just say, "Oh my! I'll take a salad and grilled chicken breast, with a piece of mint flavored dark chocolate & a cup of tea or coffee for dessert.

@MaryMamuzich @bethany @Cherishingsparrows2020

Dandelion and Burdock is a VERY old (non-alcoholic) drink.

Fentimans is a British brand that still does it justice and it is our favourite drink of choice when we can. Although Jo prefers their Rose Lemonade. Dandelion and Burdock is certainly more of a northern drink, than a southern one though!

@MaryMamuzich @bethany @Cherishingsparrows2020 it's most commonly found in the poshest supermarkets...which says something I guess

my understanding is that it was made from ingredients people without money had freely available, hence dandelions and burdock - two plants that are easy to come by

@Berrybunchfamily @bethany @Cherishingsparrows2020 πŸ€” making do! God always provides. I'm sure there are some good nutrition in it.

@MaryMamuzich @Cherishingsparrows2020 @bethany extreme baking in my mind - some poor soul up a mountain with a batter mix in one hand and an ironing board in the other 🀣

@Berrybunchfamily @bethany Andy B! Eat your parsnips!! Or no kidney pudding or toads for you!!

@MaryMamuzich @bethany πŸ˜‚

toad in the hole is such a misleading name for a food isn't it?!?

and, but I don't like parsnips................

@Berrybunchfamily @bethany I grew some this year... I like them oven roasted or in soup.

@MaryMamuzich @bethany i much prefer them when they're on someone else's plate πŸ™‚

@MaryMamuzich don't mind the smell...just not the taste or texture. i'm the same with coffee - love the smell, but just don't like the taste

@bethany looks yummy, lots of veggies, but still enough meat for the meat eaters πŸ˜€

@Will I'm going to break your heart right now and tell you it was fake meat.... 😬

@bethany it looks like meat loaf - ground meat baked in the oven... what was it, cause it looks quite nice πŸ˜‹

@Will I have no clue, but I do know you would have hated it. Some kind of 'vegetarian meat alternative'

@bethany 😬 😬 You need to find new friends πŸ˜‚

@Will right, because you and @tymektt are sooo much better? πŸ™„

@bethany @tymektt well, yes... and we wouldn't feed you fake meet and would be sure to have some good drinks to go with it... πŸ˜‚

@Will @tymektt I'm pretty sure our definitions of "good drinks" differ πŸ˜‚

@bethany @tymektt you know...
"Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
And them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye" πŸ˜€

@Will @tymektt I'm not going to say that reference aged you, but that reference AGED you

@bethany @Will how did I end up in this thread?
Oh I see now...
Good meat and good drinks.
Of course! You can count on us Bethany 🀩

@bethany @tymektt what can you say, the 70s and 80s produced some of the best music EVER...

@bethany @Berrybunchfamily that looks delicious! I think I could skip a meat or two after eating it!

@bethany @Berrybunchfamily so in this yummy looking meal, I see nothing in the yorkshire pudding...? Is that right?

@MaryMamuzich @bethany unless you get the meal inside it - a few fancy restaurants do that (I've heard of it in Leeds, at least)

@MaryMamuzich It's really kind of a pointless addition the more I think about it πŸ˜‚

@bethany well, I'll do some twerking of this British pudding bread thing! I'll add some apples and cinnamon to the batter or fill it with chicken, beef and veggies...πŸ€”

@MaryMamuzich British pudding bread 🀣 Well I thoroughly look forward to seeing all the different versions you come up with

@bethany yes! I never follow directions or go with the flow!

@bethany so was yorkshire pudding used as a kind of tummy filler so not so much meat was needed?

@bethany I just reread my post!🀣🀣 I spelled twerking instead of tweeking! I love auto correct!

@bethany @MaryMamuzich @Berrybunchfamily it’s all about the strawberries and chocolate for me!! 😍
