Just did something that I thought I would never do - invited Petra to be our BTJ podcast.
I grew up listening to Petra and am now motivated to break out the old songs!
@sinbach Also a long-time Petra lover! Still blast 'em frequently even though I'm now an old granny hahaha!
@sinbach
Petra!
@sinbach Petra is awesome!!
@sinbach I LOVE Petra! One of my all time favorites! I grew up listening to their songs with my Dad! πβ€π
@sinbach awesome! I still listen to Petra and I'm 50 years old. Cant wait to hear the podcast!
@sinbach Petra! I forgot about them! I just played a few of their songs - fun stuffπ
@sinbach yeah petra.
@sinbach Mmmn...I am pretty sure I have heard every Petra song. Unless you have some live bootleg recordings!π
@sinbach Oh my goodness. I lived on Petra in the 80s!π
@lauralynn i lived on them in the late 80's early 90's. their longevity is pretty amazing
@sinbach I'm clueless, need to google Petra π
@tymektt it is 80's Christian rock and it nurtured my soul as a new believer
@sinbach @tymektt I remember hearing This Means War! 25th anniversary edition on Spotify and it was pretty good, the louder the better when it comes to #Christianrock . Though I generally listen to Christian rock artists like Skillet.
@sinbach oh I've heard it and it's still in my playlist! "Lucas McGraw what's come over you?" "Come and join us in the sunlight"
@Toddkapper yep! thats the album! I love Lucas McGraw - so FUNNY you said that one first. out of all the Petra play lists, it is that one that I STILL listen to. No one has a clue who is singing. When I tell them it's Petra, they don't believe me.
@sinbach oh Yea! My parents and uncles came to Jesus during the Jesus Movement. They didnt want me to listen to secular music, so they hooked me up to Petra, Rez Band, Larry Norman, Randy Stonehill, Keith Green, 2nd chapter of Acts, etc... I transferred my records to mp3 and still listen.
@Toddkapper that is sooo funny because my parents were just the opposite! they were not Christian, but they STILL believed that hard rock (or anything that sounded like it) was the devils music. So they felt that Christian rock was EVEN worse. I was NOT allowed to listen to it, so I had to listen in secret.
@sinbach Since you have ties in Sweden... how about Ulf Christiansan and Jerusalem? One of my favorite bands as well. Saw them at Agape Fest in Greenville Illinois, early 80's. Been a fan ever since
@Toddkapper no, I do not know them, but I did work with Evie Karlson - a famous Norwegian Christian singer from the 80s - for several years when she and her husband helped run BTJ in the US.
@sinbach I went to a Petra concert on the 80s too! Wow!
@sinbach you're kidding?! Yes yes and yes! π π π Looking forward to that! They are (were) so good! The founding members must be in their 60's or 70's... π€
@sinbach awesome!
@sinbach I became a Christian in 1985 and Petra was on my list! Now I attend Petra Church in New Holland PA !! (Although the name was not related to the group, they did apparently have the group do a concert at the church before they retired!!!)
I'm going to play some 1970s Petra music in a future podcast that I am CERTAIN no one has heard before.
